Sir Roger Moore, James Bond actor, dies aged 89 RIP

Roger Moore will perhaps always be remembered as the man who replaced Sean Connery in the James Bond series, arguably something he never lived down. Roger George Moore was born on October 14, 1927 in Stockwell, London, England, the son of Lillian (Pope) and George Alfred Moore, a policeman. He first wanted to be an artist, but got into films full time after becoming an extra in the late 1940s. Moore also served in the British military during the Second World War. He came to the United States in 1953. Suave, extremely handsome, and an excellent actor, he received a contract with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer.

He played the famous spy in seven Bond films including Live and Let Die and A View to a Kill. Sir Roger's family confirmed the news on Twitter, saying he had died after "a short but brave battle with cancer".

The statement, from his children, read: "Thank you Pops for being you, and being so very special to so many people."

"With the heaviest of hearts, we must share the awful news that our father, Sir Roger Moore, passed away today. We are all devastated," they said in a Twitter post.

I was born in the '70's Sir Roger Moore was in that time the young boys dream actor, his class, charming good looks and the characters he played with refinement will always live on in my movie collection.
RIP Sir Roger!

I found some nice show-reels & homage on YouTube below:

My favorite Roger Moore movie quotes:

"But James I need you, so does England my dear..."

"Vodka martini, shaken not stirred..."

"Please James, they will kill me if I do. And I'll kill you if you don't"
