OPERATION RED SEA is a world's first implementation of the GOBLU3 principles, developed and entirely supported by the International Association of Dive Professionals. Test area has been secured in Sudan's Red Sea state, together with local stakeholders and partners. Since 2021 volunteers are working in Port Sudan, and abroad to help the sustainable development of the Red Sea region.

THE LESS TRAVELLED ROAD...

As the idealist entrepreneur, with an intense love for the Red Sea, that I am; would call it...Challenging to say the least.

Summer 2020, while the Coronavirus was raging in Europe, TheOceanRoamer started working on the development of #OPREDSEA. After years of developing the GOBLU3 concept of sustainable marine development. It was time to implement it, and no other place was better suited, than Port Sudan, an area and people he knows well. February '21 he would start the migration of OCEAN ROAMERS from Egypt to Sudan. With the help of partners, fans and followers he finally starts working on the ground in Port Sudan, and in May 2021 he enters into an agreement with the Red Sea University.

BACK IN TIME TO 2006 | RED SEA CATALOGING EXPEDITION

The 2006 Red Sea Cataloging Expedition: 30 Scientists & Volunteers, 3 weeks, 80+ Dives/Day, 570 Km of reefs surveyed, 1800 pictures gathered.

#OPREDSEA | SUDAN saw it's inception, during our work in the M.P.A's. OCEANROAMERS co-organized, and co-sponsored, the only large scale scientific research in Sudan's M.P.A's, in modern times.
The data gathered, during the expedition, resulted in despair, and elation at the same time. The effects of warming were very noticeable. However we also found coral colonies, who had evolved through millennia and adapted to higher Ocean temperatures.

THE FRONTLINE OF OCEAN WARMING

Sudan's Red Sea Coral Reefs, and Coast Lines regularly experience, extreme heatwaves.

Why our work here, is so important.
The Red Sea in Sudan, is in the top 5, of hottest ocean temperatures recorded worldwide. It is defacto one of the global warming frontlines, and also the frontline, of coral reefs resilience to heat. #OPREDSEA aims to find solutions, mitigate the yearly loss of corals, and restore a healthy biosphere.

ALL PROJECTS

#OPREDSEA 2022 | PHASE 1: "FOUNDATIONS"

The first phase of #OPREDSEA is well underway, in Port Sudan, since May '21. Thanks to the relentless dedication, of our volunteers both online and on the ground. Our main focus with phase one's "Foundations", is to mitigate environmental impacts, all the while safeguarding the most vulnerable organisms. But also focus on marine education of locals, that will help in the future conservation efforts.
The RSMA|ERC project covers education and experimental research.
The mooring project attempts to halt, reef destruction.
The Vault safeguards Sudan's marine eco systems, in the face of rising Ocean temperatures.

FIXED MOORINGS

Mitigating decades of wild anchoring on Sudan's reefs, and avoiding future damages to these fragile marine organisms. By launching Sudan's first Reef Moorings project.

THE VAULT

"In order to combat bio diversity loss in Sudan's Red Sea. Drawing inspiration from 'Svalbard' the Norwegian Doomsday seed vault in the arctic region. 'The Vault' will act as it's sub tropical marine counterpart, in the Red Sea"

OPERATION RED SEA | MISSION OBJECTIVES

"Providing logistical, financial and consultative development aid, to both governmental and non - governmental organizations; in their missions to sustainably develop, and protect the Sudanese Red Sea Marine resources for the benefit of nature and it's coastal communities."

GOBLU3

Applying and testing the IADP - GOBLU3 sustainable development principles, of coastal integrated marine resources management.

COACHING

Fostering cooperation, and high quality training course, and continuous consultative support; to G.O, N.G.O, and educational institutions; in the Red Sea State.

SMART VILLAGE

Create an Earth/Sea, experimental research, and eco-tourism village. "Complete off the grid, self sustainability, with positive socio-environmental impact"

R&R

Research and Rehabilitation Develop, setup and perform scientific research programs. Restore natural biosphere, by reintroducing fauna and flora; to critical sites around the Red Sea.

OR to assist in the project management, and development of the Red Sea University's, Marine Sciences and Fisheries faculty, in Port Sudan

OCEANROAMERS leader in Red Sea, marine projects development, and management; under it's #OPREDSEA missions and concepts to coach, and help educational development in the Sudan. Entered into a long term agreement with the Red Sea University (RSU), in Port Sudan. Intent of the cooperation is to assist in the development of the Marine Sciences and Fisheries faculty.
