Protecting the natural environment may seem overwhelming with increased natural disasters, melting sea ice , and threatened wildlife . But your choices can truly go a long way for your community and your health. Here are ten ways to be a better steward in 2018 and help others do the same! 1. Reduce the Carbon Footprint of Your Food Pexels Reducing your carbon footprint can seem daunting when learning about the many ways in which humans contribute to global greenhouse gas emissions . But there are a few things you can do to directly cut back on your own influence. Start by looking at your consumables, especially your food . When you factor in transportation, land use, pesticides and waste , food produces up to twice as much pollution as all of the cars on the planet. Being mindful of where your food comes from and how it was produced...
It's no secret we all need to pull together to help ease pressures on the environment, but there could be a compelling psychological basis for why many of us aren't doing everything we should to help save the planet . A recent report based on seven studies involving a total of more than 2,000 subjects found that both men and women associated eco-friendly behaviours and products with being feminine – which scientists say could contribute to men not embracing environmentally conscious conduct, for fear of it undermining their manliness. "Our dying ocean is a reality. Last year a man contracted flesh eating bacteria and died after going scuba diving a few days after getting a tattoo.
Our marine eco-systems have been poisoned with chemicals, feces, agricultural run-off, pesticides, herbicides, plastic, PCB's, mercury, radiation, etc.
In British Columbia virus infested blood is being pumped through pipes directly into the sea. Fukushima is spewing tons of radioactive water into the sea everyday in Japan (since March 2011).
From every port and sewer in the world we dump, spew, and pump toxic filth into the sea.
We need to give our Ocean the time to repair the damage we have done.
And remember, when the Ocean dies, we all die!" 😓
