Pope suggests 'better to be atheist than hypocritical Catholic'

VATICAN CITY Pope Francis delivered another criticism of some members of his own Church on Thursday, suggesting it is better to be an atheist than one of "many" Catholics who he said lead a hypocritical double life. In improvised comments in the sermon of his private morning Mass in his residence, he said: "It is a scandal to say one thing and do another. That is a double life." "There are those who say 'I am very Catholic, I always go to Mass, I belong to this and that association'," the head of the 1.2 billion-member Roman Catholic Church said, according to a Vatican Radio transcript. He said that some of these people should also say "'my life is not Christian, I don't pay my employees proper salaries, I exploit people, I do dirty business, I launder money, (I lead) a double life'." "There are many Catholics who are like...

These sleek prefabs come with smart home features

Another day, another prefab company trying to lure you into the out-of-the-box home dream. This time, Coodo from Hamburg, Germany, shows off its newly completed project, a 720-square-foot “Coodo 64,” installed in Bielefeld, Germany. With rounded edges (also seen in the Alupod prefab concept from Hong Kong) and sleek, contemporary fixtures, this Coodo 64 is on the larger end of the company’s offerings, which also sells modular pods as small as 100 to 170 square feet. Inside, there’s enough room for an open living room and kitchen, with a workspace off to the side—all facing the front glass walls and porch. There’s a separate bedroom and bathroom, both with built-in storage. All Coodo dwellings are designed with passive house strategies, using mostly recyclable materials, and outfitted with smart home features like app-controlled lights and temperature monitoring. Since the first Coodo was installed in Switzerland in February 2015, the company has...

4 Things You Should Do at the End of Every Meeting

Meetings . I can hear the collective groan from here. Your days are filled with what seems like endless sit-downs, conversations , and brainstorming sessions . And, honestly, you wouldn't mind -- as long as you felt like you were actually accomplishing something. But, when it comes to meetings, we all tend to fall into the same trap: We spend an hour talking and throwing out ideas, and then end up with nothing to show for it. Fortunately, things don't have to be that way. There are four key things you can do to wrap up every meeting and ensure that those get-togethers are actually productive -- rather than a colossal waste of time. 1. Provide an Overview Even if you start with an agenda in place, conversations can still take plenty of twists and turns. While that's to be expected, it often results in people wandering out of the...

20 Things Successful Entrepreneurs Never Say

20 Things Successful Entrepreneurs Never Say
What separates the best entrepreneurs from the rest? Their mindset. While other people complain and let their negative thoughts get to them, remarkably successful entrepreneurs are steadfast in only thinking and saying things that serve them. If you pay attention, you're likely saying and believing negative thoughts that hold you back. The first step to get out of that cycle is to become aware of your negative thoughts in the first place. Here is a list of 20 statements or beliefs you will never hear a successful leader or entrepreneur say. I'm not good enough While everyone experiences self-doubt, successful entrepreneurs detach from the idea that they aren't good enough and move forward in pursuit of their goals. I don't have time Everyone has the same amount of time, yet successful entrepreneurs make time for things that are important to the success of their businesses. I'll try Saying "I'll try,"...

Wearables Taken to a New Level as MIT Researchers Create Ingestible Battery

What will they think of next?! It may sound like something out of a science fiction movie, but researchers at MIT have just developed an innovative, safe-to-swallow battery that is powered by your stomach acid. This is a fantastic breakthrough for the medical world as this type of technology could be used in powering ingestible electronic devices that deliver drugs into the body and in certain medical procedures such as colonoscopies. While other safe to swallow batteries are being developed currently, they’re still causing issues.  However, MIT’s development may just change all of that and bring a cheaper and safer alternative to replace those currently on offer. The battery was developed by a team led by senior authors, Giovanni Traverso and Robert Langer. Traverso said, “We need to cone up with ways to power these intangible systems for a long time. We see the GI tract as providing...
